Spellgun Studios is a new mobile-oriented game studio, formed in October 2012 and focusing on titles for both the iOS and Android platforms. Spellgun will be led by James Zhang, founder of Concept Art House, and formerly of LucasArts, alongside two industry veterans with over 40 years of experience between them.

Spellgun’s strategy will be to leverage CAH’s high calibre art resources, Zattikka’s core analytics engine, and a unique geographic position to build games for an ever-increasing mobile game player base in both the East and West.

Spellgun is split into two distinct divisions: Spellgun East which is headquartered in Shanghai with a clear strategic focus on the casual mobile games market and Spellgun West, based in San Francisco focusing on marquee premier titles. Both studios are currently pursuing an aggressive expansion strategy aimed at doubling output within 12 months.
